The research aimed to analyze the geopolitical impact of religion on American decision-making toward Israel. by exploring the complex interplay between religious beliefs and American strategic orientations in the Middle East. It focuses on the role of evangelical and Christian Zionist movements in shaping U.S. foreign policy, highlighting how religion functions both as an ideological force and a tool for political mobilization within executive and legislative institutions.
The research adopts a multidimensional methodology, combining historical, political, and cultural analyses. It is grounded in a theoretical framework that integrates political realism and constructivism to better understand how religious factors interact with U.S. geopolitical interests. A wide range of sources were utilized, including presidential speeches, congressional records, public opinion surveys, and academic literature from both Western and Arab perspectives.
The study concludes that religion—particularly in its evangelical-Zionist expression—is not merely used to justify pro-Israel policies but constitutes a structural component of U.S. decision-making, especially in matters concerning Jerusalem, settlement policy, and military support. It also finds that this religious influence extends from the White House to Congress and is deeply embedded in American political and media discourse.
Looking forward, the study anticipates potential shifts in this religious role due to demographic transformations and the growing influence of liberal and secular trends. Such changes may reshape the contours of U.S. support for Israel. These evolving dynamics warrant further investigation to grasp their underlying causes and assess their potential social and political implications.
